What I Do
Upcoming Events & Notices
On behalf of The Garden Club of Toronto I have been invited to represent NAFAS by participating as an international exhibitor in the Design Section of Canada Blooms 2019. Canada Blooms 2020 Festival theme is “Birds of a Feather”. The show is held in Toronto, Ontario between Friday, March 13 and Sunday, March 22, 2020.
The title of the show this year is Birds of a Feather and the schedule writers have emphasized the diversity and interconnections in our country and the world. It should be an exciting show highlighting diversity and imagination.
The class title for the international class is “Aerial Odyssey” and calls for a design representing Britain so I will be busy planning what I am going to do and take with me to Canada.
I have now returned from Canada where I won a gold medal and the Helen Fuller trophy for best International Exhibit! Please see photos below.
I am a national floral demonstrator and over the years have travelled far and wide demonstrating to small and larger audiences, from 30 to 1000 people.
I have competed in numerous floral competitions both nationally and internationally including world shows in Canada, South Africa and recently in Barbados where I had two second prizes.
I was born and brought up in Herefordshire and went to my first flower arranging lessons at the age of seven with my mother so have a great number of years experience. I competed in my Young Farmer days both at club and national level.
After leaving Herefordshire College of Art I trained in floristry and gained working experience in a florist shop before becoming self employed in the world of flowers.
My experience expanded when I took further training in flower arranging. Back in the early days floristry and flower arranging were seen to be very different, so having the experience and knowledge of both has enabled me to have a larger designing ability.
